Setting those New Year Goals
Let me tell you, I love the fresh start of the new year and setting goals. It gives me time to reflect on what went well, what I could have done better and what I would like to accomplish in the new year. Working with people in health care and fitness for years I often see people waiting for the new year to “start”.
Whether that is start exercising again, “get back on track”, start eating healthier, trying to lose weight, etc…..This year I want to encourage you to set goals in a health and sustainable way. My goal for you all is to be successful and approach this in a healthy way!
Make sure that you are goals are SMART goals. If you haven’t head this term before there this is what the acronym means below:
Specific: who, what, where, when, why. The more detailed the better.
Measurable: If you can’t measure something then how do you know if you are successful.
Actionable: are there specific action steps you can take to get where you are trying to go?
Realistic: meaning don’t set crazy lofty goals that aren’t doable for YOU. We need to be able to actually achieve them!
Time: in what time period are you able to get this done?
I encourage you to get out a piece of paper, your planner or your notes app on your phone and set one, or heck maybe three goals for the new year. Use the format above to set yourself up for success. I would love for you to share your goals with me so I can cheer you on!
